Many families on Ometepe face difficult daily circumstances. Limited job opportunities and low incomes make it hard to provide basic needs such as safe housing, healthcare, and education. Financial stress often places heavy pressure on families and communities.
These struggles can also lead to deeper challenges, including broken relationships, hopelessness, and addiction. Many people long for stability, support, and a better future for their children, but lack the resources and opportunities to move forward.
Yet even in hardship, the people of Ometepe continue to show faith, resilience, and hope. Through practical help, encouragement, and the love of Christ, we seek to walk alongside them and help bring lasting change.

It is inspiring to see how people care for one another in their community. They remain strong by supporting each other and trusting in God.
Mission
Answering God's calling to serve
So far I have been helping several people in need. I've prayed for a lot of people and bringing them hope of Christ when they felt lost. Where I saw necesities I stepped in to help financially. Here are some examples of what I've been doing so far, and what I would like to expand with your support.
Water tank for school
In the summer the water is closed off for hours. This school couldn't offer water for their childeren, so I donated a watertank so they always have water.
Handing out Bibles
I've given away Bibles to people who couldn't afford one. This woman had bad eyes and was praying God for a Bible with gigant letters so she could read his word everyday.
Handing out food packages
Every month we organize visits to families in need. To each we take a food package with basic food, and bring them some words of God, music, and a prayer.
Building more comfort
An old woman was sick and often needed to lay at bed during the day. Her walls were plastic which was very hot, so I build her walls of bamboo for more airflow.
By living within the community the needs become clear, and by prayer God guides where to help
Special story
Inspirational faith
Marvin is 21 years old. About 3 years ago he lost his sight because of a brain surgery to remove a tumor, and half a year ago his left leg also had to be amputated. He still fully trusts in God, and his strong faith is an inspiration for many. He has been praying for a piano for a long time, and God used me to grant his prayer to give him a piano. Now he is practising 4 hours a day to be able to play worship music in church.

Support
Help a business start up
There is money coming in on the island by tourists, but most goes immediately into the pockets of foreigners that started businesses here. There are many people with skills on the island, but not always the resources needed to start their own business well. Also education and training can be necessary, to help them become more self-sufficient.
The beautiful people of Ometepe will be so happy with your financial contribution to give them more hope and a future. Your personal presence here as volunteer or part of a mission trip will be even more of a blessing to them.
